I think that I want to incorporate the idea of a palimpsest into my process. Unsure at this point if palimpsest will be the actual concept, I hope to be able to develop the crux of my design from this inspiration. I like it because it allows for the ideas from the past to remain seen and incorporated while introducing a new experiential landscape to the community. Hearing what the community said about wanting to remember the people and devastation that occurred and experienced by New Orleans residence is an essential importance to this development process.
Over the break I plan to return to the site and hone in on the layers that may present themselves on or around the site. I want to complete several different study models. From these models and sketches, I hope to develop a concept model which would incorporate the overall time of history, in fragments, into the present. This development is still obscure, but I hope that it will refine over more research of the site and through historical documentation on the region, community, and culture.
